THE TÉRRABA RIVER The Grand Térraba River is the longest river of Costa Rica, covering 198 kilometers and carrying the largest volume of water. It descends from the highest point of Costa Rica, Chirripo National Park (Talamanca Mountain Range) down to the Pacific Ocean. In the middle section there are 2 Indians Reserves: The Borucas and Térrabas. This river creates the largest delta and it's lowest section protects 36.000 ha of Mangroves, the largest area of mangrove swamp in Costa Rica. 7 different species of Mangrove trees have been identified in the swamp- the most in the country. TOUR DESCRIPTION We’ll will pick you up at your hotel and drive South on the Costanera Highway for a little more than 1 hour to the put-in section on the Grand Térraba River. We will stop along the way to view some the incredible wildlife which may include birds, monkeys or sloths. At Palmar Norte, you will be provided with the safest kayaking equipment available and will be given safety instructions by our professional kayaking instructors. The river trip begins in grand style with a magnificent 15 km. section of canyon. The scenery and the emotion of class I, II & III rapids is a fantastic combination to experience.
What to Bring: Comfortable clothing, strap sandals, hiking shoes or sneakers, mosquito repellent, sunblock, sunglasses, raincoat or poncho, binoculars, camera, plastic bags, extra water bottle, set of extra clothes, and a towel. And don’t forget your prescribed medicine if you take any.
